“Don’t forget to smell the Roses” she said, after a conversation that had included communist dictators defacing christian worshiping sites in China and satellites immorally being launched into the stratosphere and ruining the night sky forever more. Not what you’d expect from a brief encounter with your neighbours elderly cleaner. It echoed however, rather distressingly, a similar conversation i’d had only the day previously with my brother in the United Kingdom, who’s wife would qualify as a career conspiracist. “It’s all tied in,” “their taking over’” “ The Elite are controlling us’” “It’s World War III.” Statements of reality that are all theoretically possible, as any good conspiracy theory has to be in order to stand the scrutiny and interest of any decent detective citizen. It’s all perfectly understandable that conspiracy theories are on the rise, it’s also very unsettling. My brother explained to me how current global events could easily be tied together and that the mega-rich could be exerting their control over the mere mortal masses.
These conversations leave us drained because there is just so much information out there, ultimately what can any one of us do. The internet is filled with theories and opinions, and even fiction presented as fact. So we really do need to do our research well. It’s fair to say that recently I have had a lot more time on my hands, but, as i sit across the table from my home schooling kids, i’m just trying to be the best I can be for them, right here and now. What’s happening out in the world will have to wait as my 10 year old needs to grasp fractions, parallelograms, punctuation and grammar.
I decided however, to see what i could find out about these theories that worry us. Firstly,.
China has started World War III.
The theory goes that China is conducting biological warfare and that the Corona Virus, which has been so devastating in western countries, was produced in a virology lab in Wutan. It’s a theory that warrants further investigation. Last week the World Health Assembly with 62 countries (including a reluctant China) agreed to mount an independent inquiry into the Virus. The figures in China do not add up, that much is certain. A country with a population of 1.4 billion and a healthcare service that is far under reaching has to have sustained more infection than the 80,000 reported cases. Some estimations put China’s actual figures in the millions, considering it was the epicenter of the virus. China’s current death toll stands at 4,634, a fraction of those sustained in the U.K, the U.S.A , France, Spain and Italy. The figures cast a shadow over China and add fuel to a fire that suggests foul play is at hand. China argues that it has been transparent and co-operative since the start of the outbreak. One explanation for the figures could be that China’s testing policy was not intensive enough to capture true numbers. It is also very possible that the Red Giant does not want the World to know how badly they have handled the Pandemic.
In a recent article by Dan Kaszeta of the Washington Post, i read that, based on genetic analysis of the virus itself, Covid-19 is not man-made. According to the article a man-made virus is very primitive in structure when placed under a microscope. Dan also argues that, it would be very hard for a country to target other specific countries with a virus like Corona. With its contagiousness and world travel being so advanced there would be very little way of stopping the virus from returning to its source. Further more if China wanted to unleash biological warfare on the west they would use a far more severe strain of virus.

We must also remember that the Mers CoV epidemic of 2012 was surrounded by claims that it too had been constructed and released on purpose. It’s a theory that seems to raise its head when any massive health issue threatens human life.

But it doesn’t end there in the Conspiracy narrative. China is apparently, no more than a pawn to the worlds ruling elite. It’s all a deception in order to control the masses, what they really want is to plant a nano chip in each and every one of us, by injecting tech into the blood stream. This is a very worrying claim. In an interview with Bill Gates earlier this year he mentioned that people may have ‘Digital Certificates’ to show who has recovered from Corona Virus, who has the Virus and importantly “When we have” a vaccine who has had theirs. Here in Australia we already have a ‘digital certificate’ in the form of an app which allows those that have contracted the virus to inform the data centre and any body they have come into contact with. It falls short on being injected with tech that can somehow keep track on us and our movements.
The internet is full of little pieces of code that collect data on what we’re looking at, in order to place more relevant advertising in front of our eyes. Our mobile phones provide a detailed history of where we have been and who we talk to for any one that would be inclined to find out. Tech giants have been gathering data on each and every one of us for years, which is a red flag for anyone inclined to think that ‘the powers that be’ are out to get us. These are worrying times, technology is moving on so fast, but is it actually being used to ‘spy’ on us, or control us, or, is it just a possibility that these technologies are capable of being used with such indiscretion?
If you look at what the Gates Foundation has done, if you take their literature at face value you have a very honest and dedicated approach to World Health. They have developed vaccines in the past and have been wrongly accused of killing 400,000 children in India with a Polio vaccination programme. Facebook is not a reliable source of information. They have developed Sanitation programmes and spend an incredible amount of money on research and development. On things that won’t work in order to find the things that will to improve the Health of developing Nations. Vaccination development makes up only 2% of income to huge pharmaceutical companies, it is a long and arduous process to get them to market. There are several companies working around the globe on perfecting a vaccine that works and can be massed produced. Vaccines for previous outbreaks of SARS & MER were shelved after infections fell and it’s more than possible the same will happen with the development for a Covid-19 vaccine.
Elon Musk and 5G satellites in space.
There is much debate on all of these subjects and it becomes depressing to think that technology and development gets deployed without the debate actually reaching the general public. For me that is were there may be some credit in the theorists arsenal. Western society as we know it breeds this feeling that there is something outside of us that we cannot control. The thing is, with anything you investigate the more you look the more you find. And that can be pretty daunting and frightening. There is always more than one perspective and those that are barely surviving will look at those that have an unlimited supply of resources with a distrusting eye. ‘What are they doing in there’ to quote Tom Waits…
A lot of these theories laugh in the face of reality. Claims that the Starlink Satellites, Elon Musk, SpaceX, 5G towers and a deliberate release of a ‘Pandemonium Pandemic’ being connected to a New World Order are unfounded, circumstantial and actually dangerous.
5G towers have been erected since late 2018. There are many parts of the UK which are already live on 5G networks. Over 35 countries have already built or are in the process of building networks to run this ‘New Radio’ software.
SpaceX have been working on the Starlink project for over a decade. There is certainly much animosity and debate over the usefulness and morality and ecology of deploying thousands of satellites into earths lower orbit. Test satellites were released in 2015 and the first array of satellites in close orbit to each other launched in May of 2019. They released a second wave whilst the world is in lock down, but these two events are not connected.
A question of reasonable doubt.
In modern western societies the legal system depends on the assumption that the accused are innocent until proven guilty. Or at least that’s the theory if not always the practise. Nevertheless, it is a reasonable assumption and should steer us when pondering questions or topics of discussion such as the above. Maybe that is nieve of me, maybe it is just that system that has enabled those that would abuse power to reach positions where they are able to do so. There is much wrong with society as we know it in the west, but we must use the framework that has been before as an anchor, lest we lose all hope in going forward.
As I pondered all of this whilst walking with my kids, I felt a sense of urgency and helplessness. What can I change, what can I do? I’m in lock down, home educating the kids and getting depressed under a sea of empty beer bottles,. But, the words of that elderly Neighbour returned to my mind. “Don’t forget to smell the Roses.” What does she mean? Maybe look up and appreciate what you’ve got, smell that fresh air, enjoy the cold breeze on your face? In the moment, taking time to appreciate what you have, what yo can see, feel and hear, right now, can immediately have you feeling a little better.
